Refund policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. 

To start a return, please contact us at returns@icowhide.com . If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Natural Imperfections of Natural Cowhides

Please note that scratches, bald spots, branding marks and other natural imperfections are not considered damages and are normal in natural hides and they are priced based on their condition. Cows are not farmed for their skins, and imperfections like these can happen to their skins during their lifetimes. It is part of their character, life story and what makes them unique. However, if you don't like it, you can return it for a full refund.


Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.


Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

 

Special Return Policy for Sheepskin Rugs

While we strive for a flexible return process, Sheepskin rugs are delicate, natural fiber products that require specialized handling. Unlike our cowhide products, sheepskin wool is highly susceptible to trapping odors, dust, and developing permanent creases if mishandled.

To maintain our hygiene and quality standards, all Sheepskin returns are subject to the following strict conditions:

1. Condition Requirements

For a return to be accepted, the sheepskin must be returned in original, showroom condition. It will be inspected upon arrival for the following:

  • Debris & Dust: The wool must be free of pet hair, household dust, dander, or floor debris.

  • Odors: Items returned with smoke, perfume, or cooking odors will not be accepted.

  • Texture & Wrinkles: The rug must be loosely and carefully folded. Do not pack sheepskins into small boxes. If the leather backing or wool fibers are heavily crushed or wrinkled due to improper packing, it significantly reduces the item's value.

2. Restocking Fees

If a sheepskin is returned in a condition that requires professional restoration, we must apply a restocking fee to cover the specialized cleaning and steam-pressing required:

  • 20% Restocking Fee: Applied if the item is dusty, lightly wrinkled, or requires minor grooming to be "shelf-ready."

  • 50% Restocking Fee: Applied if the item is heavily wrinkled, contains noticeable pet hair/debris, or requires intensive professional restoration.

3. Refusal of Return

We reserve the right to refuse a return entirely if the sheepskin is returned with:

  • Permanent stains or discoloration.

  • Strong environmental odors (tobacco, pet odors, etc.).

  • Damage to the leather backing or matted wool that cannot be repaired.

In the event of a refused return, the item will be held for 14 days and can be shipped back to you at your expense.

How to Avoid Fees

To ensure a full refund, please gently shake out your sheepskin before packing and use a shipping box similar in size to the one it arrived in. Never vacuum the sheepskin or fold it tightly.
